Gluten free Dairy free Chocolate Cake!

Hey guys! A while back I wanted to make a Chocolate cake for my moms birthday! My mom can’t have gluten or dairy however. So, I went looking for a good gluten free dairy free chocolate cake recipe!

But I didn’t have to look far! Theresa at DIY Lifestyle, did a post on allergy friendly chocolate cake!! It was SO delicious, and it turned out really well! I’m a perfectionist when it comes to baking, so (me being my own super high, standard setting self), decided to make it look like a “professional cake”. I’m still not quite sure if I achieved that goal, but it’s ok. I’m still learning so much about baking, especially while using gluten free & dairy free ingredients.

For this post I’ll be sharing photos that I took while in the process of making this cake! Then, I’ll share the recipe with you guys, from Theresa’s blog!

This was *obviously* when I mixed together all of the dry ingredients, and then the milk, etc.! (By the way, once all of the dry and wet ingredients were mixed together, IT. SMELLED. SO. GOOD.)

I ended up doubling the recipe, so I had a little bit taller cake. I used this recipe for my vanilla buttercream, and then I also ended up putting raspberry jam in the middle of each layer. I strained all of the seeds out of the jam, so that it was smooth!

After that, I crumb coated the cake, and put it in the refrigerator to set, before I put my real coat of buttercream on.

After the crumb coat had set, I first just put a layer of white buttercream, and the scraped it smooth. Then I got 3 different bowls and made 3 different colors of buttercream with gel food coloring. I did light pink, light blue (it was a little bit more aqua), and then a darker-ish sky blue. I spread little ‘dollops’ of each color onto the cake, and then smoothed it out with a cake scraper. (I didnt get any pic of that, but I’ll insert a picture from online showing what I’m talking about XD)

Then I proceeded to decorate it with little flowers!

It tasted really good, and it ended up looking really cute!

That’s all for today’s post! I hope you enjoyed reading it! Let me know down in the comments if you like to bake! I’d love to chat!

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

  1. Ooh YUM! You did an awesome job with those flowers! And the different colors on the side are beautiful 😍💜💕
Yeeees I really like baking! I enjoy it the most when I’m making a recipe I’m really familiar with (like when I know the ingredients and measurements by heart 😂). It takes a lot of extra focus to make a new recipe!
I can’t even remember the last time I baked something… 😳 I’d like to again haha!

    1. Hey Samuel! I have to say that I’m better at baking more than cooking, but maybe that will change in the future! 😉
Just read your last post! It was awesome!
