Why I dance

Hello guys! Today I am going to tell you why I dance, how big of a role it is in my life, and possibly my whole dance journey!

First off, I started dancing when I was 3 years old. Ok, I was actually 2 and a half, but whatever. (I started dancing at The Joy of Dance, and still do. It is a Christian pre-professional ballet school/company)

I started ballet because both of my older sisters did it. When you’re in a ballet class at 3 years old, you don’t do much. All you do, is a plié here and there, and run like a butterfly, for 45 minutes once every week. It may seem like a complete waste of time, but all of those things are teaching you an aspect of grace, poise, and how to move your body.

As I got older and moved up through the different levels/grades, I realized that all of the little things I had learned could be put together to make something beautiful. With age, comes more responsibility, and in the ballet world, that means more hours of dancing each week.

When I was 12 yrs old, i danced 5 and a half hours each week. It was that year at our annual performance in June, that I found I could use my dancing to glorify my Creator, my Savior, my God.

Since then, I have been dancing for the Lord, and trying my hardest to show His love through my dancing. Now, I dance 8 hours a week, along with being a teachers assistant for an hour each week.

Some ballet dancers only stick with ballet classes until they are 6 years old, and some go on to make it their carrier. I personally don’t necessarily want to become a professional dancer, but if that is where God ends up leading me, I will try my very hardest to follow in the footsteps He has for me. Right now however, I plan on sticking with dance at least until I graduate, hopefully longer. My dream would to become a ballet teacher, teaching young children that we can worship our Lord through all we do, including dance.

I have not been without my own challenges and difficulties in regards to ballet. I have had to overcome many, and am in fact still struggling with doing pointe work to the best of my ability.

To sum up this post, I dance for the One who saved me from eternal separation from God. I dance to praise the name of Jesus, and all He has done for me and you!! This is why I am so passionate about dance.

I hope you guys enjoyed getting to know a little bit more about me and my life’s story!

Have a wonderful day guys, and God bless!

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Psalm 100:1-3
